In the Studio... Clinn Rippy 2 Sep 2010, 2:43 am
Legendary drummer, Clinn Rippy, was in the Music Business Radio studios today for a rare radio appearace. He was joined by film director Shance Ryan Brentham, who has been documenting his story for the last four years. Also in the studio was Dr. Darren Hicks, who has been studying Clinn for the last several years, looking at what makes him the amazing musician he is.
Clinn has played with a multi-genre list of musicians ranging from Elvis Presley, to Snoop Dogg, to Celine Dion. His music has been sampled by dozens of artists including Notorious B.I.G., The Chemical Brothers, and Daft Punk. The total number of records his music appears on has been verified by the RIAA at 170,000,000, but it is estimated to be over 250,000,000, because of numerous bootleg albums and "white label" dance mixes that haven't been officially tracked.
We talked about how Shance connected with Clinn, what he's learned since he started filming, and more. Dr. Hicks gave insight into Clinn's super-human musical talent. This episode also included an in-studio performance from Clinn.
